Benchmark Broadcast completes installation of a world-class facility for Nepal Television’s channel launch in Itahari.
About the project
NTV, Nepal’s oldest and largest broadcaster, has undertaken an ambitious plan to expand their broadcast services to different regions with an accent on modernisation. As part of this endeavour, Benchmark Broadcast completed on-time delivery of on-site installation for a world-class facility for the 24×7 channel designated for broadcast to the Sunsari province. The project includes requirements for new station automation with IT components including storage, edits and video wall.
The Nepal TV project has been a milestone to mark the Benchmark Broadcast team’s capabilities to deliver to vastly different geographical and cultural broadcast environments. The guiding philosophy of technological agnosticism has once again enabled Benchmark Broadcast to provide the best possible solution for the client’s unique needs.
Integration and Expansion
The client’s vision was to introduce state-of-the-art tapeless automation systems, edits, and central storage with an edit-in-place workflow. Using the best of client-consultant collaboration in its design and implementation, we integrated latest-technology systems to ensure seamless data sharing between the equipment to reduce overall human resource costs without compromising the channel’s work schedules. Strategic use of high definition and high availability cabling will also take into account future compatibilities and expansion, which is a part of NTV’s broader vision to reach across to all provinces with world-class infrastructure and connectivity.
Smart Tech, Seamless Delivery
The vagaries of weather and terrain in Nepal require exceptionally robust solutions. The Benchmark Broadcast commission for Nepal Television’s Itahari site allows content intake from remote corners to be transcoded into the local format and made available for faster delivery. The installed system receives feeds from various studios to be switched through an MCR-based master control playout equipped with Ingest and Edit-in-place solutions to provide high-resolution edits through 10G connectivity. Redundancy was accounted for at critical levels and included AV and Network components. A high-end bezel-free video wall has also been installed in the News Studio to give the channel a face that reflects the advanced technology behind the audience experience.
On-time Delivery
Benchmark Broadcast is the service of choice when it comes to exceeding expectations with on-time delivery. Nepal Television’s successful channel launch on 31st January 2020 marked the broadcaster’s 35th Anniversary and fulfilled a promise to the Nepal Prime Minister.
